Independent Power Producers chosen

State oil company PetroSA has partnered with China's Sinopec Group to work together in pushing the building of the proposed US$11-billion Mthombo crude oil refinery project, to be built at Coega near Port Elizabeth.

The West African Cable System, the fifth submarine cable system to link South Africa to the rest of the world, was formally launched on Friday, promising further improved bandwidth connectivity down the west coast of Africa.

Port operator Transnet Port Terminals will spend R33-billion (US$4.3-billion) over the next seven years on upgrading and expanding South Africa's ports, as part of a massive state-led infrastructure drive aimed at boosting the country's economic growth.
