Seacom cable 'online in July'

Critical portions of the 15 000km Seacom undersea fibre-optic data cable linking southern and east Africa, Europe and south Asia, and its associated land-based infrastructure, have been completed on schedule. The system is set to go live in July – bringing cheaper international bandwidth for many African countries.

Joburg eyes Lanseria 'aerotropolis'

Lanseria Airport to the north-west of Johannesburg has been earmarked for a potential R7-billion "aerotropolis" development that could see it being integrated with residential, commercial and light manufacturing facilities in a 30km radius over the next 20 years.
