Everyday Hero: Jackie Branfield

Natalie Killassy grew up in the mining town of Carletonville, but knew nothing about the tough working conditions underground, or the many workers who are permanently disabled because of mining accidents. When she did find out, she decided she had to do something about it.

At first glance, Mike Gedye seems like your average skilled cobbler. Dig a little deeper, however, and you will find a man more concerned with the souls in his community than the soles on his factory floor.
