Empowerment codes process on track
Posted Wed, 13 Jul 2005
Business and labour expressed satisfaction on Tuesday with an
undertaking by government that they would be consulted before the
final conclusion of new codes on Black Economic Empowerment.
"We received an assurance that we will have a chance to
influence the process moving forward," Congress of South African
Trade Unions general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said.
He was speaking at the conclusion of a Presidential Working
Group meeting involving representatives of government, business and
labour.
Business Unity SA president Patrice Motsepe also welcomed
government's undertaking.
The focus, he said, should be for as many people as possible to
be part of the process.
