Total South Africa on Thursday announced its biggest affirmative procurement agreement to date, after awarding a R400-million contract to Fuelogic.
An associate company of Calulo Investments, Fuelogic is a black owned fuel, transport and logistics company.
Commenting on the deal Total South Africa CEO Philip Jordan said: "As Total we have one of the leading affirmative procurement policies in the sector as required by the Liquid Fuels Charter.
"Our procurement target for BEE is 34 percent of total transport spend, which we exceeded last year. Fuelogic was selected on their impressive track record with us and the industry as a whole. We are looking forward to the next five years together to achieve our goals."
Fuelogic's MD Graham Searle noted that a contract of this magnitude is a boost to the company's business profile and to empowerment in general.
