Posted Tue, 29 Nov 2005
UK mobile phone group Vodafone disclosed on Monday that it had bought a further 11.5 million ordinary shares in Venfin.
The price paid per share on Friday was R46.10, bringing the cost of this latest transaction to R530.15-million.
Vodafone announced at the beginning of November that it wanted to acquire Venfin's 15 percent stake in South African mobile operator Vodacom for around R16-billion.
If successful, the deal would see Vodafone's interest in Vodacom increased from 35 percent to 50 percent. Telkom holds the remaining 50 percent in Vodacom.
