Posted Tue, 08 Aug 2006
Xolile Pallo Guma has been re-appointed as the deputy governor of the SA Reserve Bank, the institution said on Monday. "President Thabo Mbeki has informed the Governor of the Reserve Bank, Tito Mboweni, of Guma's re-appointment as Deputy Governor for a period of five years," the bank said in a statement. Guma was first appointed as deputy governor in August 2001 for a period of five years. The re-appointment is effective from July 31 2006. The governor and three deputy governors of the SA Reserve Bank are appointed by the president after consultation with the Minister of Finance and the Board of Directors of the SA Reserve Bank. "Both the minister and the board support this appointment". The re-appointment terminates Guma's appointment as special advisor to Mboweni. "The Governor said he was very pleased with the re-appointment and welcomed Guma back into the fold".
