The retail price of petrol will drop by 36 cents per litre just after midnight on Wednesday, the Department of Minerals and Energy said.

Departmental spokesperson Bontle Mafuna said the wholesale price of diesel with a 0.05 percent sulphur content will decrease by 25 cents a litre while that of a diesel with 0.005 percent sulphur will drop by 29 cents per litre.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would go down by five cents per litre, Mafuna said in a media statement on Friday.
