South African President Jacob Zuma met leaders of the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU) in Tshwane/Pretoria on Wednesday.

The union has 2.2-million members in North America, Canada and Puerto Rico, the Presidency said in a statement.

The union and Zuma, accompanied by Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel, discussed the promotion of United States foreign direct investment in South Africa to create work and tourism.

"The top leaders of SEIU are visiting South Africa to learn more about the political, economic and social dynamics of the country," the Presidency said.

"The delegation is specifically interested in the situation of workers and unions, as well as how the policies of the South African government will position the country in the global economy."

The union delegation included actor Danny Glover, who is the chairman of the TransAfrica Forum.

Glover wore a suit made by the South African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union to support ongoing relations with South Africa, which began during the struggle against apartheid.
