Rand firm, eyes US data

The rand was firm against major currencies in noon trade on Friday while eyeing US housing and consumer confidence data due later today.
At 12.30pm the local unit gained 0.36 percent against the greenback and was bid at 7.4800 from its previous close of 7.5070.
The rand jumped 0.86 percent against the euro and was bid at 11.5663 from its previous close of 11.6664.
Against sterling the rand collected 0.77 percent and was bid at 14.5714 from its previous close of 14.6846.
Gold added 0.32 percent and was quoted $884.90 a troy ounce.
