Rand ignores softer euro

The rand maintained a steady footing in midday play on Wednesday despite a softer euro against the greenback.
At 11:43 local time the rand was bid at 7.2507 to the dollar from 7.2512 at the previous close.
It was bid at 9.2140 to the euro from 9.2060 before.
It was trading at 11.2045 against sterling from 11.1378 at its previous close.
At 11:58 gold was quoted at $1 258.69 an ounce.
