Showcasing African opportunities

10 April 2012

Local and international government and business representatives will gather at Sun City, North West province on Wednesday as the two-day South African International Trade and Investment Conference and Exhibition kicks off under the theme of "The African Dialogue".

South African President Jacob Zuma is expected to deliver the keynote address at the opening of the event, which is being hosted by Trade and Investment South Africa along with the country's provincial investment promotion agencies.

Also in attendance will be the trade ministers of various countries, the CEOs of top international companies, investors, exporters, foreign importers, and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) foreign representatives.

The conference, exhibition and business matching meetings will serve as a platform to promote Africa as an attractive investment destination, especially in the current global economic environment.

The event, say the organisers, will direct attention to the abundant business prospects in South Africa and the rest of Africa, while providing an opportunity for local and international players to forge relationships.

Topics to be discussed will include the Tripartite Free Trade Agreement and its benefits for investors, infrastructure development in the North-South Corridor, and the BRICS grouping of countries and how this relates to trade and investment in the rest of Africa.

South Africa's flagship projects, products and services will be showcased to highlight opportunities in the various provinces and sectors. There will also be a special focus on the country's export potential.

The investment conference will include plenary sessions and breakaway sector sessions, with business presentations based on practical opportunities, funding, trade agreements and incentive schemes.
