Calling all 2010 communicators

The upcoming 2010 National Communication Partnership (NCP) conference aims to generate up to three integrated communication campaigns in which all stakeholders in the 2010 Fifa World Cup, including sponsors, host cities and the government, can easily and effectively participate.

The NCP brings together the country's 2010 Organising Committee, the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), the International Marketing Council of South Africa (IMC), South African Tourism and a range of private sector and civil society groups.

Its fourth annual conference will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Monday, 17 August.

"The event also marks the celebratory milestone of 300 days to the kick-off of the Fifa 2010 World Cup, proudly being hosted on African soil for the first time," said NCP chair Nkwenkwe Nkomo. "Now on the home stretch to this prestigious global event, Africa's time has truly come."

The programme will provide delegates and hosts with a platform for robust debate and dialogue. It includes a keynote address by Collins Chabane, minister within the Presidency, as well as an analysis of reporting on the Fifa 2009 Confederations Cup.

There will also be hands-on group breakaway sessions to discuss domestic and regional mobilisation, communications, as well as tourism, hospitality, transport and security issues.

Panel discussions will include representatives from Fifa, the 2010 Organising Committee, GCIS, SA Tourism, the Department of Transport, the Secretariat of Safety and Security, and the media.

"We intend to deliver a powerful and integrated 2010 communications platform to help mobilise South Africans and African stakeholders," said Paul Bannister, acting CEO of the International Marketing Council.

"Through integrated communications and aligned messaging, we can collectively position and help deliver the next 'defining moment', for both South Africa and the African continent."

The one-day National Communication Partnership conference will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Maude Street, Sandton (GPS coordinates S26° 06.394'; E028° 03.221'). It will be followed by a networking cocktail party. Click here to register
