MPCC delivers services to villagers

Villagers in the Ventersdorp Municipality this week gained access to telecommunications and other services as part of government's drive to bring services closer to the people.
This was after the North West Premier Edna Molewa launched the Multi-Purpose Community Centre in Boikhutso village on Thursday.
Molewa told the villagers that the telecentre in the MPCC would help them acquire the necessary information for them to seize the opportunities brought about by democracy.
"Our youth will now, through the Internet, be able to access institutions like the Umsobomvu Youth Fund and other institutions that could help change their lives for the better.
"We also want to see women getting information that could help them with entrepreneurial issues while encouraging them to start community projects or businesses based on relevant information," said Molewa.
She said the MPCC would help reduce the distances that people travelled to
access government services.
"No more shall our people spend their little and hard earned money on transport in order to get government services," she said.
The MPCC houses the departments of Health, Social Development, Home Affairs, Government Communication and Information System as well as Labour.
"Our people will now have a clinic in this MPCC, they will easily register for social grants and apply for identity documents and check on their marital status," said Molewa.
She added that while the MPCC could not respond to all the needs of the community, the service provided at the centre could be used to uplift the livelihood of the people.
"While this MPCC will not resolve all challenges immediately at once, it definitely signals new beginnings for the communities around here," said the Premier.
She urged parents to create awareness on HIV and AIDS among their children in the fight against the disease.
"The department of health will provide the
necessary information in this MPCC so that we can together fight the disease," she said.
A community member, Olebogeng Motingoe, said she was glad that services have been brought closer to the people.
"I am glad that I will now be able to save the little money I have rather than spending it on transport to get basic services," he said.
