RSS feeds SA to your desktop
Do you want to stay informed about South Africa, but don't have time to keep coming back to SouthAfrica.info?
Our RSS feed offers a quick and easy way to keep up to date with our latest news and feature postings.
Instead of visiting and browsing the site for new articles, a glance at the RSS feed on your desktop will tell you when something new has been posted online, give you a quick summary - and link you directly to the full story on the website if you want to read further.
What is RSS?
RSS, which stands for Really Simple Syndication, is just a way of bringing web content direct to your desktop.
SAinfo's RSS feed is updated at regular intervals during the day - except for weekends and public holidays - automatically bringing you headlines with story summaries and links to the full stories as they go up on the site.
How do I get RSS?
You'll need to download a free RSS reader. This is a small application which
tracks your chosen RSS feeds and presents them to you in readable, email-like, format. Take your pick from any number of news feed readers available online:
Once you've installed a reader, "subscribe" to SouthAfrica.info's RSS feed simply by copying and pasting this URL into your reader:
http://www.southafrica.info/news/feed.xml
Then, of course, you can subcribe to as many other news feeds as you wish - see
the right-hand Related Links box, for starters.
Mozilla Firefox users
If you're using the Mozilla Firefox browser, it's really simple to tap into RSS feeds. When you visit SouthAfrica.info's front page, a small orange icon will appear in the bottom right-hand corner of your browser's status bar. Simply click on the icon to add SouthAfrica.info as a Live Bookmark.
