SA leads way in wine tourism
Wines of South Africa CEO Su Birch spoke of the successes of SA's wine routes at the 2007 Vinexpo trade show in Bordeaux, France, describing a "collective approach to wine tourism" that has allowed for the formation of 18 wine routes in the Western Cape, each with its own distinctive personality.



Pushing South Africa's 'bio-wines'
In the space of two years, over 70 Western Cape wine producers have adopted biodiversity best practices, and set aside some 40% of the province's winemaking land, as the industry moves to protect the Cape Floral Kingdom - and tap into a growing international demand for eco-friendly wines.



Eat Out's top 10 SA restaurants
Stellenbosch restaurant Terroir took South Africa's top gastronomic honour when it was named the Eat Out Johnnie Walker Restaurant of the Year 2006, while culinary trendsetter George Jardine won the Chef of the Year title.

South Africa is the top trophy winner so far at the 2006 International Wine and Spirit Competition, with SA entries in the blended red, botrytis wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Pinotage categories judged the best in the world.
