Need a hand with your tax return?
Edwin Tshivhidzo

23 June 2005

With just a few weeks left before the tax filing season ends, the SA Revenue Service (Sars) is deploying consultants around Johannesburg, as well as other regions throughout the country, to help taxpayers complete their tax returns.

The consultants will be available across the region at selected shopping malls and community centres, offering a free tax consulting service before the 8 July deadline.

The consultants will be at Westgate Shopping Centre on 25 June and 2 July and Clear Water Shopping Centre on 25 June and 2 July - in both cases from 9am to 2pm.

Sars spokesperson Adrian Lackay said they had extended their services to other regions throughout the country.

"People who need assistance can contact their nearest Sars office for further information," Lackay said. "Our consultants will be deployed in the various strategic points, such as taxi ranks and shopping malls."

In Nigel, the consultants will be at Heidelburg Library on 23 June, Alra Park Library on 28 June, and Balfour Town Hall on 29 June - in all cases from 9am to 3pm.

They will also be at Pick 'n Pay in Carltonville on 27 June and 9 July from 9am to 4pm and on 2 July from 8am to 1pm.

On the East Rand, they will be at Springs Taxi Rank on 24 June and at The Avenues Mall from 5 to 8 July - in all cases from 8am to 4pm.

In Soweto, the consultants will be deployed at Baragwanath Taxi Rank, Dobsonville Mall, Eldorado Mall, Kliptown Centre and Lenasia Shopping Centre from 21 June to 8 July from 8am to 4pm and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays

Taxpayers are reminded to bring along all supporting documents, such as the IRP5 certificate from employers, medical aid Statement (if applicable), retirement annuity contribution certificate (if applicable), investment income advice such as the IT3(b) form from their financial institution (if applicable), as well as all supporting documentation to substantiate claims.
