Tax season off to a flying start

The South African Revenue Service received more than 50 000 returns in less than 12 hours as the 2014 tax season got under way on Tuesday. Sars will deploy 14 000 officials and nine mobile units, and set up temporary service points countrywide, to make it easier for people to submit their returns.

Call to help identify child-headed households

Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini has called on South Africans to help identify and locate child- and youth-headed households in the country, to ensure that they receive the necessary support from the government.


'Make use of services for children with disabilities'

Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini has urged the parents of children with disabilities to make use of government services available to assist them. The minister's call comes after reports emerged of a girl with disabilities being locked up in a shack in Alexandra, Johannesburg.
