South African Tourism has planned another "extra-sensory extravaganza" music concert to give Britons a taste of South African rhythm - and of South African crafts, food and beverages.
The "Viva South Africa" concert, to be staged at the Bernie Spain Gardens on London's South Bank on 21 and 22 August, will see South African artists - including Jive Nation, Ray Phiri, Katrina Fountain and Sasa Skhakhane - sharing their pride with Londoners and showcasing the country as a tourist destination.
The event will also coincide with a UK by the acclaimed Soweto Gospel Choir, fresh from a month at the Edinburgh Festival.
SA Tourism chief executive Cheryl Carolus says South Africa offers visitors a diverse range of authentic experiences. "Running as a golden thread throughout is the wonderful warmth and fusion of our people and cultures", Carolus said.
SA Tourism's general manager in the UK, Nolwazi Mdluli, says that as South Africa celebrates
10 years of freedom, it is appropriate to "bring a piece of this warmth" to Britain.
"South Africa is all about realness - real human contact, real answers, and the joy of real sensation", says Mdluli.
"We value the diversity of our people; it is a fusion that sparks creativity and embraces the positive, optimistic nature of South Africa."
