SA continued to defy world tourism trends in 2003, with overseas arrivals up 4.2% despite a 1.3% fall-off in global travel. SA's tourism growth has, not surprisingly, coincided with the country's first decade of democracy: arrivals grew tenfold since 1994, from 640 000 to 6.5 million in 2003. |
