Border posts: longer holiday hours

The Department of Home Affairs has extended operational hours at ports of entry frequently used during the festive season to enable free flow of traffic.

The Lebombo border post in Mpumalanga will operate for 24 hours a day from 13 December to 19 January, while the Oshoek post will also be operational for 24 hours on 24 and 31 December.

Skilpadhek in the North West will operate from 6am until midnight on 17, 24 and 27 December and on 2 January 2005. Kopfontein, also in North West, will operate from 6am to midnight from 15 December to 2 January.

Van Rooyenshek in the Free State will also operate from 6am to midnight from 23 to 24 December and on 1 January.

The Mahamba port of entry in Mpumalanga will operate from 6am until midnight on 24 December. However, on 31 December, this port will operate from 6am to 11pm, and on 23 December it will operate from 6am to 10pm.

The Golela port of entry in KwaZulu-Natal will operate from 6am to 10pm on 16, 17, 24 and 31 December.

The department added that some ports will operate until 10pm, including Mananga in Mpumalanga on 23, 24 and 31 December, and Groblersbrug in Limpopo from 15 to 24 December as well as from 30 December to 3 January.

Kosi Bay in KwaZulu-Natal will operate from 6am to 6pm on 15, 16, 24 and 31 December, while Onverwacht in the same province will operate from 7am to 7pm on 24 December.
