Zuma visits Cape Verde

Deputy President Jacob Zuma paid a two-day visit to the Republic of Cape Verde this week in order to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Zuma's visit followed an invitation made by Cape Verde Prime Minister Jose Maria Neves during his visit to South Africa in 2003.
The Deputy President's delegation included Trade and Industry Minister Mandisi Mphahlwa, Free State Premier Beatrice Marshoff, and representatives from public enterprises such as the Airports Company South Africa, electricity utility Eskom and South African Airways.
Zuma held wide-ranging discussions with Neves, and paid a courtesy call on President Pedro Pires of the Republic of Cape Verde. He also met the president of the National Assembly, Aristides Lima.
The South African business delegation held bilateral meetings with their Cape Verdean counterparts to discuss possible areas of cooperation.
Zuma also met other stakeholders in the Cape Verdean
Islands of St Vincent and Sal, before leaving on Thursday for a two-day official visit to the Republic of Benin.
