IT training for unemployed youths

The Department of Public Service and Administration has entered into a partnership with the State Information Technology Agency and the Umsobomvu Youth Fund to increase the numbers of professionals in the Information Technology sector.
The new internship programme will facilitate on-the-job technical skills development for unemployed youth and will prepare young people to acquire competencies in one professional area, either network support or software development.
In a joint statement released by the institutions, at the completion of the initial formal training phase, the participants will be placed in a workplace environment within the public service, at SITA or the private sector to enable them to gain practical experience.
Candidates from all the provinces of South Africa are invited to apply and potential candidates must have a post-matriculation qualification in IT, Computer Science or Information Systems.
To qualify for a
programme in network support, candidates must have a minimum qualification in A+ and N+, and to qualify for software development, candidates must have a qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, programming and/or databases.
Those interested in undergoing the one-year full-time programme, have been urged to submit a two-page CV with a copy of their identity documents, telephone numbers, home address, current address and certified copies of certificates.
