More entries for Argus Cycle Tour
1 September 2005
Cyclists who missed the original 15 August application deadline for the 2006 Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour are getting a second chance.
As of 1 September, they can fill out online entries on the event website and make inquiries by e-mailing info@cycletour.co.za or phoning (021) 685-6551.
"We have decided to accommodate a further 2 000 entries on a first-come, first-serve basis," says event director Anton Groenewald.
The Cycle Tour office received an overwhelming response from 36 500 cycling enthusiasts wanting to ride in 2006. From the amount of interest shown by international cyclists, indications are that there will be a further 2 500 international entries.
The 36 500 successful applicants who applied to enter the Cycle Tour during the primary application process have already been advised. However, they are encouraged to confirm their
entries as soon as possible by paying the entry fee.
Veterans
For the first time in its 29-year history, the Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour will also be introducing separate veterans' categories, as follows:
- Vets 30 - 39
- Vets 40 - 49
- Masters 50+
The top 200 veterans in each category on seeding index will be afforded the opportunity to compete in these special start groups.
In addition to the vets categories, the top 50 racing women will join the top masters 50+ in a separate group on the starting line.
