Comrades roadshows on the go
18 January 2006
The 81st Comrades Marathon will take place on Youth Day, 16 June, starting at the City Hall in Durban and finishing at The Oval in Pietermaritzburg. Before then, runners have a chance to learn plenty about preparing for the big day.
The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) kicked off a major component of its 2006 marketing campaign this week with the launch of the 2006 Comrades Marathon Roadshow, which will ultimately visit 27 clubs and venues throughout South Africa.
The roadshow takes the form of an exciting presentation aimed at promoting participation in the world famous event, while also giving prospective runners useful information and advice on preparing for the ultramarathon event.
The CMA has welcomed the participation of the road-running clubs throughout the country, all of which have agreed to host runners from all clubs in their areas.
Both novices and experienced runners are welcome, with expert advice, lucky draw
prizes and interaction with Comrades Marathon representatives and local running heroes on offer.
Guest speakers
Guest speakers include Bruce Fordyce, Nick Bester, Willie Mtolo, Andrew Kelehe, Fusi Nhlapo, Johan Oosthuizen and Frith van der Merwe. Entry is free.
