Who/what is Brand South Africa?

The International Marketing Council of South Africa (IMC) is a public-private partnership established in 2002 to create a positive, unified brand image for South Africa – one that instils pride, promotes tourism and investment, and supports new enterprise and job creation.

As the custodian of Brand South Africa, the International Marketing Council's job is to see that South Africa's story is told compellingly, consistently and, above all, authentically.

Together with its partners in the public and private sector, the IMC is dedicated to growing support, both locally and internationally, for South Africa's young democracy and for the continent of which South Africa is a part.

The IMC's partners include the Government Communication and Information System, South African Tourism, the 2010 Local Organising Committee, and the departments of Trade and Industry, Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, and Tourism.

  • Provide a consumer-friendly guide to sources of public information across the national spectrum – from work permits to investor guidelines, golf courses to taxation, the education system to whale watching.
