IBSA summit to boost trade

The leaders of three of the world's leading emerging economies will meet next week for the second annual India-Brazil-South Africa summit, with the aim to expand cooperation in various areas as well as to increase trilateral trade to US$10-billion within the next few years.


SA, Sweden to boost links
A high-powered South African delegation led by Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka has left for Sweden, where they will attend the 5th session of the SA-Sweden bi-national commission, with the aim to consolidate political and economic ties between the two countries.



SA condemns Myanmar violence
South Africa has joined the international community in expressing grave concern at the recent violence in Myanmar, saying political negotiations were the only basis for a long-term solution to the crisis in the south Asian country.



Mbeki leads SA team to New York
President Thabo Mbeki leads a high-powered South African delegation to the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where the issues of climate change, the Millennium Development Goals, UN reform and counter-terrorism are expected to top the agenda.



SA, China to deepen co-operation
Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong and SA Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka co-chaired the third meeting of the China-South Africa Bi-National Commission on Monday, vowing to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
