South African authors nominated for international award

Three South African authors have been nominated in the International Dublin Literary Award. With €100 000 – about R1.5-million – in prize money, it's called the world's richest literary prize. Nominations are made by libraries around the world. Winners will be announced in June.

South Africa voted part of Interpol's exec

South Africa is one of 13 countries voted on to the executive committee of the international crime fighting organisation, Interpol. Brigadier Anbuen Naidoo will be the country's representative on the committee as part of a three-year mandate.


South African children's voices heard in London play

The Children's Monologues is a collection of stories from South African children in Free State province. The first stage adaptation took place in 2010. Five years later, the anniversary performance will be done simultaneously in London and South Africa, featuring top actors.


A strong South African presence at Tiff

A 20-member South African delegation is at the acclaimed Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff) to showcase the country as a desirable shooting location, as well as to provide budding filmmakers a chance to promote their work. Five South African features will also be screened.
