South Africans can now vote for Table Mountain to become one of the New7Wonders of Nature via online mobile messenger MXit, which has an estimated 37-million registered accounts in the country.

MXit users have been urged to take a few seconds from their day and use those well-trained texting fingers (and thumbs) to cast their votes and help to solidify Table Mountain in the history books.

"We are delighted to team up with MXit to offer another voting platform that is much simpler than voting online and, at 20 moola (20c), much more accessible to the youth than voting by SMS," says New7Wonders campaign manager, Fiona Furey. "We believe this will give the campaign an incredible boost and significantly increase its chance of making it into the final seven."

In order to vote, follow these five easy steps:

Download MXit to your mobile phone (http://m.mxit.com)
    Go to 'Tradepost'
    Access 'MXit Cares'
    Click on 'My Culture'
Add 'Vote 4 Table Mountain' as a contact

Once this is done, you can vote as many times as you like. With only a few months left until the final seven are announced, all South Africans and visitors are urged to vote for our flat-topped wonder.

Table Mountain is one of 28 natural sites around the globe competing to be one of the New7Wonders of Nature, a contest that aims to raise awareness of the incredible variety and beauty of nature around us.

Juan du Toit, executive head of business development and marketing at MXit says, "We are a true South African product and are privileged to be part of this exciting campaign. The public can access this voting service free of charge, and start supporting Table Mountain now."

Supporters can also vote for Table Mountain by visiting www.votefortablemountain.com or SMSing "Table" to 34874. SMSs cost R2 each, and voters can vote as often as they like.
