In a month's time, thousands of runners will take to the streets of Soweto for the annual People's Race through the township. With nearly R1-million in prize money, it is the country's richest standard marathon.
Emslie excels at top surf event
South Africa's surfers continue to make waves internationally. Greg Emslie finished runner-up in the R2.1-million Quiksilver Pro at Hossegor in France at the weekend, the best result by a South African in an ASP World Tour event since the two-tier world championship format was introduced in 1992.
Lewin wins US double-ski title
Durban paddler Barry Lewin won the US national double-ski title with Tahitian Lewis Laughlan at the weekend to cap a month-long international tour which included victory in Ireland's Liffey Descent.
